Technology meets design – the Touareg

A robust debut: at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris in October 2006, Volkswagen presented the next Touareg generation ahead of its market launch starting on 30 November, 2006.
Visual upgrade – improved aerodynamics
---------------------------------------
The Touareg has had a facelift, and that is easy to see from the chrome-look, shield-shaped radiator grille that is typical of Volkswagen. The redesign also includes the now more organically shaped headlight housings – with the option of bi-xenon headlights with cornering light. The Touareg has new door mirrors and an optimised roof spoiler to improve its aerodynamics.
Technical innovations as a world first
------------------------------------
The Touareg's ABSplus system, developed and patented by Volkswagen, is a world first. It detects loose surfaces such as sand or gravel and shortens the braking distance by up to 20% by means of controlled locking of the brakes. The electronic stabilisation program (ESP) also has some new functions. For example, roll stability is increased and brake pressure is built up as a precautionary measure as soon as you lift your foot from the accelerator.
Coming home function

Automatic driving lights with a “coming home” and “leaving home” function illuminate the area around the Touareg so that you can get in and out safely (available only in conjunction with Light and Sight package).
Sliding/Tilting Glass
--------------------
The Touareg can be equipped with an electric sliding/tilting glass or solar roof. On the latter, the solar cells supply current to the vehicle’s ventilation and reduce the interior temperature by up to 50% when the vehicle is stationary. Both sliding roof versions can be conveniently closed from outside via central locking (optional extra).
