Club Mahindra Backwater Retreat near the Ashtamudi kayal / Lake is located in the Kollam / Quilon Dostrict of the state of Kerala in India. Ashtamudi means eight armed in the local malayalam language. This Lake is a palm shaped extensive waterbody about 55 kilometers long with 8 prominent arms which are 8 different creeks.

How to reach Ashtamudi Backwater Retreat Club Mahindra Resort
Kollam is the nearby railway station and is located on the route from Kochi to Thiruvananthapuram and is an important junction. It is easier if you are travelling by train.
If you are planning to travel by air, both Thiruvananthapuram ( which is the nearest at 76 kilometers from the resort ) and Kochi airports can be used to travel to Kollam. If you are travelling by road the NH45 runs through Kollam. You can see transport buses linking Kollam to all the major towns in Kerala and some from Tamil Nadu like Madurai, Tirunelveli etc.
You can also travel through the waterways from Alappuzha by an ordinary tourist Ferry boat from the Boat jetty in Alappuzha located near the Bus Stand to the boat jetty in Kollam. From there it is just 10 minutes by speed boat to the resort.
