Madrasapattinam - Tamil Movie
Madrasa Pattinam is a period movie taken in the year 2010 about the pre independence time of India. This is a tamil period film starring arya and Amy Jackson in the lead roles. Nasser and Cochin Hanifa have done important character roles as well in this film. This movie has been directed by A L Vijay who had earlier come out with Kireedam and Poi solla Porom.
Summary of the story
This movie starts in London where an old lady, Amy Wilkinson, on her death bed wants to come down to Chennai to the place she had left far back in 1947, when India got independence. She wants to come down to Chennai i search of a young man, Parithi, of that time with just a photograph which was taken before 60 years. Parithi was a dhobi in Madrasapattinam who revolts against the British officials for their plan of demolishing the Dhobhikana for a golf Course.
Amy is the daughter of the Madras Presidency Governor and develops a liking for Parithi, gets friendly with him. She starts helping him out and the series of events happening in their life, sees romance blossoming between them.He has a nick name for her too named Duraiamma.
As they fight against the officials India gets its independence and Duraiamma is forced to go back to her country. Parithi tries his best to keep her back but fails. And now his Duraiamma comes searching for him. Will they meet? What will be the climax? You will have to see the movie to know what happened to them.

These scenes have been shot using special effects. They have taken huge cut outs of the old pictures of Madrasapattinam and shot with them as the background.There is a picturesque boat ride on the Buckingham Canal which is so fantastic because at present Buckingham is not a boatway.
Audio Release and the movie
The music was composed by G V Prakash Kumar and was released on 4th April 2010 by none other than Kamalhassan.

Bad: shades of titanic film
First to fall hats off to the producer of the movie who advertised the movie in a different way that havent happened before and putting a large amount of confident in his director for such a historical movie.The way in which the director handled the script is amazing.Cinematography in the film is unique.i hope the cinematographer nirav shah would get lot of awards this season. a must watch film for cinema lovers |
