 Location of Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary
Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary is located at about 40 kilometers from Thodupuzha in Kerala. The sanctuary has an area of 77 sq kilometers and is placed at an altitude of 450 - 748 meters above sea level. The Idukki wildlife sanctuary is located in the Idukki district extending over the Thodupuzha and the Udumpanchola taluks
About Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary
The Idukki Reservoir is made up of three dams, they are Cheruthoni, Idukki and Kulamavu which extends for about 33 kilometers. That makes the picturesque lake with a majestic arch dam across two hills . This Idukki Sanctuary is well known for the roaming herds of Elephants and Gaur and the sight will make you want to come back again and again, along with the canopy of the enchanting evergreen and deciduous forests. You can also spot Langur, wild boar and Leopards.

If you are travelling by air you can reach any of the three international airports, namely Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, in Kerala. Kochi is the nearest at about 104 kilometers to idukki.
You can get either connection trains from these cities to Kottayam railway station or take road transport. Kerala state has a very good network of roads and many buses private as well as state , ply in these routes.
