To start with we all know that consumption of electricity has become more than production of electricity and fuel resources are becoming less causing inflation of fuel.Let us all join hands to save these resources and let us now look at some important points on saving electricity and fuel.

* Switch off all fans and lights when you leave the room

*Switch off lights in the kitchen when you are not in the kitchen.

*Do not run motors for a long time.Run the motor only if you find the water in the tank has reduced.Run the motor for 15 or 20 minutes and switch off the motor.

*Do not keep the geysers on for the whole day or for longer hours.

*Use tube lights and bulbs that consumes less power. These type of bulbs and tubes are now available in markets.

*Do not run air conditioners for a long time in summers.Run it for 1 to 2 hours and switch off AC'S.

*One can go by walk to buy vegetables, groceries if the market is near instead of using vehicles to save fuel.

*Children can be sent to school by school bus or one can arrange van or auto if the children in neighbour are also in same school.

*People should use more public transportation to save fuel.

*When cooking one can use cooker to save LPG..

*One can keep rice, dal, vegetables all in the same cooker in the multi vessel to save LPG.

*People can use CNG or Government approved LPG in vehicles to save fuel and to prevent environmental pollution.

Dear Sudhersana,
people tend to waste electricity in a number of ways.
I also have a few tips on this. If you are living in an apartment with the cooperation of every member of your association of flat members you can install solar panels to illuminate common areas like streets, stair cases etc.
We can also install solar water heater on our terrace and save electricity needed to run the geysers. People should be encouraged to use inverters with batteries charged by solar power. Maximum benefit should be reaped from the freely available solar power, this will reduce our dependence on electric supply for our energy needs and shall in the long run prove to be a very good money saver.
Various state governments offer discounts for installing solar panels and solar geysers. Though the initial costs may be high, this money is well adjusted against the bill we would pay in case we use electricity.
Go for solar power and this shall make the country clean green and energy sufficient.

Hi Sudhershana,

I have also found most of your tips to be correct. I have one or two suggestions in this.
About running the motor; what I do is to put the motor daily and maintain the full tank level. I have found that I need not run the motor for more than 10 minutes. I have fixed up a particular time that is 6.30 am daily, as motor time.
In the kitchen I have an extra 8 watts CFL bulb which I use in the evenings when I do not have any work in the kitchen or even a zero watt bulb will do because I have been told that the kitchen should not be dark in the evenings.
Get our own Indian made CFL bulbs and use them in your homes. Do not buy cheaper ones. You'll recover the cost in the course of time. You tend to save money and electricity also.
