A boon to the Keralites living in and around Adayar, Besant Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur. This place is located on the road that goes to Besant Nagar bus stand. Just like so many other restaurants, you are sure to miss to locate this one too, as it is not such a big one or a well advertised one. But if you look out for a well carved Kerala type door, then you wont miss it. It is double storied restaurant with a very mildly decorated ambience which gives a great look. The decor is different in downstairs and upstairs. Downstairs is decorated with pink and green and the tables are wooden tables with ceramic top for easy cleaning and back to back bench type chairs. Upstairs- the walls are decorated with bamboo sticks on the walls and the tables are covered with table cloths.
The food is prepared with coconut oil and coconut milk. The puttu and parottas are definitely Keralite. If you are a non-vegetarian, the food is sure to lure you to that place again and again. The non-veg meals costs around Rs. 55 which inclueds two varities of fish a curry and a fry. Being a vegetarian, I opted out for the puttu and kadalai curry which is my all time favourite and Vegetarian meals which costed Rs. 40. The meals included a kootu (boiled vegetables in ground coconut paste), avial, sambar, rasam and buttermilk. We also shared a plate of appam which was really tastier to the core.
When there are festivals, they say they include dishes like pradaman, Olan. The service was too good. The staff were very helpful in choosing the dishes. We also came to know that they do door delivery but charge for transportation and service charges.
This is an authenticated Kerala restaurant. If you want to have a change, then you can visit this place.
