Alapuzha is one of the serene and beautiful districts of Kerala. What gives alapuzha a different perspective and dimension is its geographical features and life style of the people. I can guarantee you that you will love the people even more than the beauty of the place. Alapuzha is one of the favorite destinations for tourists in Kerala. God have experimented and crafted out almost all his nature wonders with water here at alapuzha.
Once you get in here it won't take much for you to recognize why alapuzha is popularly known as the Venice of the East, This name justifies and delivers to all the tourists worldwide. Like all the backwaters of alapuzha alapuzha's beach also stands with all elegance and beauty. While walking across the naughty Arabian shore in alapuzha you can feel magic under your feet. What attracted me the most was how this pretty sea shore transforms as the day progresses? In the morning she will reflect the very tiny energy from the sun shining over her. In evening like every shores of Kerala she is a divine beauty. But dont think that you can enjoy all this experience all by yourself – the beach will almost full every day with plenty of local and foreign visitors. The reflection of greenery in almost every objects and life of alapuzha adds to its attraction. But assisted by the superior atmosphere here you can still sit and imagine how it would be if you were all alone at the shores of alapuzha. There is also a children's park (called as the vijaya beach park) and light house close to the alapuzha beach. So you also have the advantage to spend some time in the park and light house.
Apart from the beaches you can enjoy alapuzha by taking a trip through its famous backwaters. You will realize how the lives of the people here are related to the water and soil. The monsoon climate here, almost throughout the year serves as the back bone of its existence as water assisted tourist spot. You will also appreciate the forms of lives available here to feast your eyes. Several house boat facilities are also available here. It is also a great opportunity for you to enjoy the superb food (especially sea foods and fishes like karimeen etc) that will enrich your Kerala style taste buds. If you can time your trip accordingly to alapuzha you will be able to witness various water sports happening in the state. Chambakulam boat race which happens towards the end of the June, Nehru trophy boat race at the end of December, Chadayam boat race are the most popular among them.
So in my opinion don't hesitate to spend your precious time in the shores of alapuzha and to be part of versatile tradition of kerala.
