Diva Maharashtracha Review When my sister came down for the holidays we all decided to dine at Diva Maharashtracha to enjoy the authentic Maharashtrian cuisine that it was famous for.
When we stepped in we felt as though we had just got into a time machine! The decor harks back to the days of the Peshwas. A unique starter that we had was the traditional-shaped modaks - these were not filled with the usual sweet fillings, but had mushrooms! Served with a green chutney and some kind of red powder, they were delicious. We began the main course with phulkas and with that we ordered the stuffed brinjals, which were strictly ok. What we enjoyed the most were the kothimbir vadis that are served at many restaurants in our area. My paneer-loving niece had the paneer-makai which was a combo of corn & paneer served in a green gravy. She happily consumed it quickly, enjoying the taste no doubt! The cucumber salad was quite unusual, containing peanuts and the simple-looking dish was really good. We did not have any rice dish as all of us were feeling full. As with our meal at Goa Portuguesa, we ended the hearty meal with sol kadhi. Delicious!
As for the prices, they are really high, what with taxes added to them. Nevertheless, a good meal overall. You can, though, opt for the thali, but then you must be prepared to finish it on your own as it is a per-head thali.
