Tata Magic Iris Review

Auto Expo is one great event to watch, and when some new vehicle is launched which promises to take auto rickshaws off road, then the expo becomes much more exciting. Tata launched Tata Magic Iris this year with a cool confidence of getting people off auto rickshaws and switched on to cars.

Aren't auto rickshaws the main culprit to all the traffic problems? It's just because of them that the roads are so badly congested, especially during peak hours. But since they form one of the major modes of public transport they are totally unavoidable. So if Tata Magic Iris is here to solve this problem, I am sure it is going to get a warm welcome.

If you ask how the car looks, well no! I am not really happy with the looks. It's not very good looking the way you want the car to be. But apart from that the other features are not that bad at all. And it does look much much better than the existing auto rickshaws.

Utmost attention is been given to the car driver's safety, with regards to the built and body features of the car, say the sheet metal body, the collapsible steering and the side impact beams. So even if it is small, it doesn't look weak. Five people can comfortably sit in this car, and with 12-inch radial tyres the car looks capable enough to carry the load.

This mini van has clean lens head lamps and car like tail lights which is definitely impressive. It has a 611 cc water cooled diesel engine which is supported by a fuel tank with capacity of 10 liter. The engine is highly capable of running great distances with a top speed of 55 km per hour thus making it cost efficient. Though the car looks pretty small, yet it carries a sufficient space for luggage.

The interiors of the Tata Magic Iris look quite comfortable with both the dual heating ventilation and the air-conditioning provided with a roof – mounted duct. Its distinct feature is definitely the glasshouse effect which is created with the plug-in windows that are provided backside for the second row passengers.

The car looks driver friendly with cool features like power steering, power windows, cable shift transmissions, reverse parking, rear wipers and the keyless entry. The interiors look cool with the two themes, viz. black and beige.

Being a four wheeled vehicle, I am sure it brings more stability and security other than the three wheeled auto rickshaws which are known to lose their balance every now and then. Also since this mini van is closed from all the sides it provides additional security which definitely lacks in auto rickshaws. The cost of Tata Magic Iris is just Rs.1,98,000/- which sounds minimal, and am sure it is definitely going to make its mark by upgrading the public transportation in better way. Tata Magic Iris does seem to have a great future ahead.
