BAJAJ PULSAR DTS-i 200 Review

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! Its the Bajaj Pulsar flying away to glory. Winning as many as 10 awards, the list itself describes how good this bike is. Literally, Hero Honda was the dominating bike during 2007 when Bajaj Pulsar was about to be introduced. And now, Hero Honda has literally stumbled on the foot of Bajaj and Bajaj Pulsar in itself leads the market share among all although TVS Apache did try to end the reign of Bajaj Pulsar but that also proved to be quite futile. Bajaj really came up with a winner here after a long time. If you have the Need for Speed and want something affordable with good mileage(Hero Honda Karizma? No way!), then you have come to see the right product.

Although people say that looks dont always seem to be colliding with utter performance but Bajaj surely proves those people wrong. This Beast looks beautiful. With those kinds of killer looks, you would lust for one. Especially my favorite is the tail lights, a radical new and superb design. This bike has got the professional race like looks, like the ones used in Superbike races and MotoGP. The front end design could have been a little better and that would have increased the sex appeal of this bike. The seat is very comfortable and has got the racing looks. OK, looks aside now lets see the other critical side of this machine - performance.

I test rode this bike(Please dont tell it to anyone - I am just 17 and am driving a bike and car without a license!) and I must say the bike feels very comfortable to ride. The 200cc engine manages everything without a drop of sweat. Although the digital console needed a few enhancements as during high acceleration, the display is unable to refresh fast and I think the old speedometer with new and cool dials would have suited it better but this might vary for different people. Anyway, the tubeless tyres makes the journey as if the government suddenly improved all the roads and ensures an absolute smooth ride. The bike has a new oil cooler and you notice the difference between an ordinary bike and this one at high speeds. Its quite distinguishable. The bikes performance is improved much more due to its aerodynamic design which extends even to its petrol tank flaps! Funny! Wonder how it works? The engine refinement is even better than the Pulsar 220. The gear is also quite smooth but it causes a few jitters while coming down. A six speed gearbox would have been preferred but I think thats asking for too much.

Now the important thing, how much fuel does it guzzle up? Well, to be fair not much. It in fact, gives superb mileage for its class at around 70 km/hr on standard testing conditions. This might be quite low for the Indians but amazing statistics for a sport bike.

Price? Well at Rs. 65000, what else could you have desired from this dream machine. It might give the Yamaha YZF-R1 a run for its money and it doesnt even burn a hole in your pocket. So go, get it now. You cannot have a sweeter deal than this, simply.
