HTC Shift Review The HTC shift brings in the power of windows vista as also the advanced power of wireless connectivity into a compact phone. This is just a 7"screen display and 30GB hard drive and it packs what a busy professional needs for his office or while traveling. The Shift comes attached to a irremovable, attractive brown leather folio. The only bad point is that it gets in the way when youre using it as a hand held and taking up space when youre using it on your desk. The Shift incorporates a 7-inch touch-screen display that can switch between 800x480 and 1,024x600 resolutions, depending on how much screen you need. A button along the right side of the displayl lets you quickly toggle between screen resolutions. You need not scroll for web browsing. You can use your finger or the provided stylus for navigation or also by dragging your thumb on the touch pad, a half-inch square along the right side of the display. The HTC Shift opens into a full QWERTY keyboard beneath its screen and you can also tilt the screen creating a tiny laptop. In HTC Shift, the keys are a shade too larger for comfortable thumb typing and smaller for usual 10-finger typing. The HTC Shift comes with two buttons for easy access on the lower left corner. One to launch a dashboard that includes a clock, calendar, weather, preview Outlook mail, plus shortcuts to SMS messaging, your Outlook calendar, and your contacts and a second one on the right side of the screen to start the HTC Control Center through which you can adjust volume, brightness, and wireless settings, plus a quick "flight mode" setting. You can run the SnapVUE application without booting the windows and save energy. The Origami Center provides fast access to music, pictures, and videos, plus a Web browser, RSS feeds, and favorite programs. The large icons in the Origami Center make it possible to navigate using just your fingers HTC backs the Shift with an year warranty.
