Just like an office Local Area Network (LAN) the Swift has a Controlled Area Network (CANBUS) to enable data transfer between the cars microprocessors and components. 6 microprocessors connected in a highspeed Canbus control Engine, ABS_EBD, EPS, Auto AC, Security and Deadlock and Airbag.
CAN systems have a very high speed data transfer capability and this enables real time control of components.
Other advantages of the CAN system include less wiring since all signals travel on a single main wire. This makes the system more reliable.
Faults can also be diagnosed using a hand held computer (TECH 2) which scans the entire system and can give a technician technician information about what is wrong. This results in shorter repair time.

This has been achieved by freshly mapping the ECM while revamping the intake and exhaust systems to enhance engine breathing. The engine is tuned with an emphasis on performance at low and mid-range speeds (crucial in stop-and-start urban driving situations and on winding country roads) and incorporates a range of advanced technologies for efficiency and structural measures for minimal vibration and noise. The five-speed manual transmission has also been extensively worked on to make the engine match the power and torque curves.
The MacPherson strut in front attaches the suspension lower arms,
steering, gearbox and rear engine mounting to a suspension frame (and not to the body), thus raising handling and comfort to a new high.

When a neighbour bought the Maruti Swift model and I saw its curved hood, the first thing that came to mind was the adorable car in the film Love Bug. The Swift is similarly cute to look at. With its great-looking headlamps and cool-looking grille, the front section does look like a human face! From the outside, it looks like a really small car.
