 TVS Motor is leaving no stone unturned to woo its female fans for its Scooty scooter. TVS recently tied up with Asian paints which will enable them to offer 99 types of color for its top selling scooter. A Scooty buyer can choose the shade from the dealer before buying.
All the 99 colors will be on display at TVS dealership from which buyer has to choose his favorite color. Wait, all this will of course come for a bit of extra price which will range between Rs. 900 to Rs. 1900.
The process in selection of colors to delivery takes about 48 hours. In fact once buyer chooses the color for his Scooty, the unpainted panels are sent to Asian paints which come to dealer within 48 hours. This system is only active in Bangalore and if it picks up you could have your next Scooty with colors of your choice.
Additional featuresOne should have no qualms on this front. The Pep with her extreme lean burn engine and sparse fuel intake stretches the litre to a best of 79.5kmph. Simply fantastic for the core buyer for whom Fuel Efficiency is foremost on the agenda. This comes at a price however, the strung out Fuel Efficiency being a virtue of the lean burn engine which has been so finely tuned that cold starts get to be an ordeal. Riding through peak traffic conditions she still returns a stupendous 64.4kmpl. Combined efficiency figures give an overall figure of 72kmpl. However a 5-litre fuel tank capacity gives a range of just 360km. A couple more litres could have stretched the fuel stop intervals some more.
On the flip side, TVS has resorted to a very lean combustion mixture to eke out the best Fuel Efficiency. Cold starts then can be a long-drawn affair in spite of the electric choke. Getting her up to her optimum operating range is also a tedious process. In the long run the constant jamming down of the ignition switch could affect the starter motor or you could put extra wear and tear on your shoe soles by constant kick-starting her to life.
The upgraded TVS Scooty features better lighting, improved front suspension and a redesigned instrument cluster to its proven 60cc engine.
The TVS Scooty's light weight, variomatic transmission, underseat storage and an optional electric start make it the preferred choice for the youth market.
In terms of managing and providing space there's nothing in the market on two wheels that can hold a shine to the Scooty Pep. Features, accessories and goodies are all very well but for women, storage space is a prime factor. After all aren't they the ones who do the humdrum everyday marketing as well as indulge in shopping sprees? At the Mysore launch of both the Fiero F2 and the Scooty Pep, the storage capabilities of the scoot were highlighted with over a dozen articles ranging from notebooks to jackets, cola cans and make-up accessories, shopping bags, and even a small open face helmet stowed away into the storage spaces housed in nearly every section, from the large glove compartment under the handlebars to the removable underseat storage bin. Besides, the assortment of hooks, like the spring loaded one on the front to hook up either your bags or even a briefcase weighing up to 10kg or the dual hook below the seat to hook up a couple of bags weighing around 20kg as well are an added boon.

I bought TVS Scooty (Red) for my sister two years back. It cost me Rs.33K. It was her birthday and she started going to college. That was the most expensive I gifted her on her birthday. She loved it and sometimes I take a quick drive but I feel odd as its a girls ones. Sometimes we go for a long drive. She drives and I sit back enjoying her driving.
