Alibaug is a small town at the southern tip of the city of Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra in India. libaugh or Alibagh has tall palm trees and golden beaches which gets lapped up by the waves. Other than the quaint little village houses you can see farm houses of the Mumbai's elite lok.
Alibaugh is the headquarters of the Raigad district of the state of Maharashtra.
Alibaugh is an historic town since the village served as a base for the Maratha Navy of Kanhoji Angre.
Nearly 300 years ago Alibaugh was founded by Sarkhel Kanhoji Angre, a naval chief of Shivaji's kingdom. In 1852 the rea was made Taluka and named Shribag. As the area was not connected to the mainland the only way to go there was through Revas Dharmtar or Markule by sea. Later Dharamtar creek was opened to the public connecting to the mainland. Nowadays it has become a weekend getaway and a popular business center for the affluent people of Mumbai.

is a quiet and serene beach along the serene stretch of the Arabian sea. There is a fort within the sea and attached to the mainland by a narrow land strip through the Korlaivillage. The fort has seven gates, a sweet water well, a church in disuse, a Hindu timple and a Lighthouse.

How to Reach Alibaugh
If you are travelling by road, you can reach Aibaugh via Pen about 30 kilometers away and is located on the Mumbai - Goa road. You can travel on the NH 17 if you are travelling from Mumbai till Wadhkal and taking the right with the left being the road to Goa. Alibaugh is located at about 108 kilometers from Mumbai.
The nearest railway station is Pen and through Pen, is connected to Khopoli.
You can also reach Alibaugh through Catamaran or Ferry. The nearest Jetty is Mandwa from where the services are available to Gateway of ndia.
