This restaurant has made it to the ‘must eat here' list in the print media and online restaurant sites. So with great anticipation went to feast on their famous thali. There were a fair number of diners seated in the restaurant, all totally absorbed in their food and not looking anywhere except down at their thali. The reason for being alert is that once you are seated and the thali is brought to your table, there are so many items to eat that it does require total concentration! The waiters are dressed in traditional Rajasthani attire, complete with turbaned heads.
To begin with, pop the mini-dhoklas into your mouth, followed by the kachori. Even the rotis come in choices – wheat or jowar or the stiff hard type or puris. To eat with the rotis are three to four katoris of vegetables, each a different kind. Then you can have the rice and khichdi with dal and kadhi. Papad & pickles are inevitable accompaniments. For a sweet, there are jalebis. Round off the meal with a glass of chaas and you are done! The meal is so filling, that you won't want to have any evening snacks and definitely a light dinner at night.
The above is a description of the meal. I kept the punch line till the last: is it good? Yes, it is, but not so great that it should get a rave review. In fact, the biggest let down was the fact that the food was cold . You expect to eat a hot meal, whether at home or when dining out & if this restaurant gets so many good reviews, you naturally expect piping hot food. So the final verdict is that it is an over-hyped restaurant.
