Review: Quality Automobile for 2010 - 2011 - Tata IRIS
Review By: Dr. Apurva Tamhane    Review Date: 17 Sep 2010

The Tata Magic IRIS is a product which is based on engines similar to the Tata Nano and the engine is quite robust for the use it is meant to be. A higher version on low sized Engines, The Tata IRIS comes with variants which are in Petrol and Diesel.

Probably, Tata IRIS and Tata Nano will be launched on another Engine Model - The Air Compressor Engine which does not consume fuel but works on Air Compression on account of its low cc engine capacity.

While you cannot enjoy the comfort of the big sized engine vehicles, but still it is able to carry out your work of travelling from one place to other and to carry the cargo up to its limits and capacity.

The better feature in this vehicle is the Cable shift type gear box which makes it very smooth and easy to change gears which is a problem in the other types of Gear box and thus makes its smaller and easier to handle.

The BS 3 Compatibility is the need of today with low pollution emission standards being put on the market of vehicles. A BS 4 model will be more appreciable as in the coming few years, BS 5 will be coming and BS 3 vehicles may get banned. Even in some cities of India, the BS 3 vehicles are not allowed to be sold and thus the Tata Magic Iris is of no use for those people.

While the Bajaj Market is also very high and they are also releasing Quality products since long time, it will be a tough start for Tata to launch the Tata IRIS for the common vehicle usage like the Auto Rickshaws and Commercial small vehicle type Cargo vehicles. More over with doors and hinges may cause an increase in maintenance of the vehicle when compared to the all open public vehicle Auto Rickshaw by Bajaj Automobiles.

Review: Great Future Ahead - Tata Magic Iris
Review By: Sangeeta Sanjay Chaubal    Review Date: 18 Sep 2010

Auto Expo is one great event to watch, and when some new vehicle is launched which promises to take auto rickshaws off road, then the expo becomes much more exciting. Tata launched Tata Magic Iris this year with a cool confidence of getting people off auto rickshaws and switched on to cars.

Aren't auto rickshaws the main culprit to all the traffic problems? It's just because of them that the roads are so badly congested, especially during peak hours. But since they form one of the major modes of public transport they are totally unavoidable. So if Tata Magic Iris is here to solve this problem, I am sure it is going to get a warm welcome.

If you ask how the car looks, well no! I am not really happy with the looks. It's not very good looking the way you want the car to be. But apart from that the other features are not that bad at all. And it does look much much better than the existing auto rickshaws.

Utmost attention is been given to the car driver's safety, with regards to the built and body features of the car, say the sheet metal body, the collapsible steering and the side impact beams. So even if it is small, it doesn't look weak. Five people can comfortably sit in this car, and with 12-inch radial tyres the car looks capable enough to carry the load.

This mini van has clean lens head lamps and car like tail lights which is definitely impressive. It has a 611 cc water cooled diesel engine which is supported by a fuel tank with capacity of 10 liter. The engine is highly capable of running great distances with a top speed of 55 km per hour thus making it cost efficient. Though the car looks pretty small, yet it carries a sufficient space for luggage.

The interiors of the Tata Magic Iris look quite comfortable with both the dual heating ventilation and the air-conditioning provided with a roof – mounted duct. Its distinct feature is definitely the glasshouse effect which is created with the plug-in windows that are provided backside for the second row passengers.

The car looks driver friendly with cool features like power steering, power windows, cable shift transmissions, reverse parking, rear wipers and the keyless entry. The interiors look cool with the two themes, viz. black and beige.

Being a four wheeled vehicle, I am sure it brings more stability and security other than the three wheeled auto rickshaws which are known to lose their balance every now and then. Also since this mini van is closed from all the sides it provides additional security which definitely lacks in auto rickshaws. The cost of Tata Magic Iris is just Rs.1,98,000/- which sounds minimal, and am sure it is definitely going to make its mark by upgrading the public transportation in better way. Tata Magic Iris does seem to have a great future ahead.

Review: Tata Magic Iris - Economy passenger carrier
Review By: N K Ravishankara    Review Date: 18 Sep 2010

Tata magic Iris is unveiled as a carrier as a four wheel small passenger in the public transportation arena, which carries a tag of safety and comfort, mobility, which definitely upgrades the travel quality particularly to those who depend much on three wheelers.

Tata Magic Iris have very spacious cabin of a car type which is very comfortable seating for four passengers comprising of three in the back and one in the front apart from the driver. The vehicle have a 12 inch radials or to say 10 inch cross ply which can be controlled by a steering with a hard roof made out of best steel metal which is ultimate in safety further with clear lens headlamps like a car.

It is very ease as good as a car with cable shift transmission and steering which comes to you with a 611 cc diesel engine with a water cooled and backed by fuel tank with a capacity of 10 litre which makes a reliable vehicle for long distances, which comes with a 55 kmph top speed and with a 5 speed gear box.

Powered with a 11.3 PS comparatively higher than small three wheelers with an astonishing pulling power also with faster trips and gradeability, which in turn will get a higher earnings to the operator. The Tata Magic iris's cost effective at a lower maintenance with a bouquet full of features.

Ultimately to say it is an ideal passenger carrier with a dual profitable both in terms of public transportation quality and owner's income.

It is said to be the next evolution of the Tata Ace Magic series. The most astonishing factor is the price which is a lovely low rate and absolutely final selection for the present three wheeler owners.

Under the present features of Tata Magic Iris, it could become a highly rated choice in the days to come due to its low price tag which is less than Rs.2.2 lacs.

Tata Magic Iris will give other three wheeler manufactures a sleepless night as it is about to capture the market from the three wheeler manufacturers in due course of time.

Initially Tata Magic Iris is unveiled in the pink city the reason could be Tata Magic iris is basically with BS 3 complaint engine hence allowed to register in Tier 2 or Tier 3 cities.

Review: TATA Magic Iris India Review Function vs Looks
Review By: vk    Review Date: 19 Sep 2010

Iris refers to both the showy flower and the part of the eye which controls the pupils. Well, looking at the latest launch from the TATA automobile factory, the TATA Magic Iris, one's first reaction is that it is not showy at all and it definitely enlarges one's pupils! You see, its colour is weird (unlike the iris flower which has a wide variety of pretty hues), and its shape is even more weird. It looks like squashed vehicle, the front resembling a three-wheeler and the passenger section shaped like a van. Actually, the aim of TATA Motors is to replace existing three-wheelers which are a common mode of people-transport in many cities in India.

This aim therefore does not focus on looks at all, but on functionality, namely to convey people from one place to another. I think it is surely a great idea and should not, in fact, be limited for transporting people alone. The TATA Magic Iris could be a great mode of transport to carry light goods, such as for conveying cartons of flowers to a florist (the name is Iris remember!), or stacks of newspapers & magazines to a vendor. What about using it as a place to hole up when going camping? There would be no need to set up a tent since it is quite spacious. Speaking of space, the TATA Magic Iris has got room enough for 5 people and plenty of luggage space at the back.

Even better is the fact that once you are seated inside the TATA Magic Iris, you feel definitely more safe than sitting precariously inside a three-wheeled autorickshaw – in the case of the latter, you have to cling on for dear life and pray the unstable vehicle won't topple over sideways while it careens its way through and around other vehicles! Also, an autorickshaw ride makes for an awfully bumpy ride, not to mention a noisy one due to the sounds emitting from the engine. Not so with the Magic Iris. The seats are comfortably cushioned and the 611cc direct injection diesel motor does not give out ghastly vibrations. Adding to the stability factor is the 145 R12 radials – simply great!

Coming back to the looks, the front part of the TATA Magic Iris does at second glance look a bit cute and it seems as though the large front headlamps are any minute going to wink at you, much like the ones of the Volkswagen Beetle.

It is hoped that the TATA Magic Iris provides better colour options.

As mentioned earlier though, the TATA Magic Iris is not about looks but functionality – and in that department it is an ace, definitely making the iris in your eyes widen the pupils in delight, not disgust!

Tata introduce Magic IRIS in the market with proudly that is Easy of maintanance and small size.Launch official vehicle in India.Five seater capacity including driver.Maximum speed is 34 mph.

About the price Rs.198000 is not reasonable for only 5 seater capacity. This not lowest price and engine capacity is 611 CC.But TATA lauched nano which is only Rs.100000 with 800CC diesel engine and 5 seater capacity officially.

Review: Good and comfortable transport - Tata Magic.
Review By: bineeta    Review Date: 21 Mar 2011

Tata Magic has become a replacement to all the three wheeler transport system like the uncomfortable auto rickshaw. It is just like a boon to the middle class people who are residents of small towns.

It is quite comfortable and good for long distance transport. the seats are comfortable and a lot of space is also there regarding the interior of the vehicle.

I would prefer to take a Tata Magic than to go on a three wheeler.

Review: Tata Magic Iris for everyone
Review By: Jeevan kumar    Review Date: 04 Jul 2011

TATA Motors has really launched different vehicles on different interval of time. But i think one thing was common in all products of the TATA, To provide maximum comfort and reliability to the peoples. Tata Magic Iris can be said as the smart nano as it is just cheaper as Nano. Tata has lunched this van to fulfill the various needs of the people. It is a four seater van, The best thing about this van is that it is affordable for middle class people also. And they can just use it as both for passeneger purpose as well as cargo carrier. So this is really a great vehicle for India as we see India is full of Auto-Rikshaw, which is not that much useful but Tata Magic Iris has got various features like smart look and performance. We feel proud to have automobile company like TATA in India.

As you may have imagined, the Magic Iris was presented in New
Delhi, where Indian carmaker Tata took advantage of the home

comes in the smallest of shapes and sizes.

I think in my point of view this is Tata Motors spacious display at Auto Expo in January. It was, like the ground-breaking Ace, a concept which everyone was staring right in the face but no one wanted to actually look at it! The last mile people mover business in the land is yet the preserve of the ubiquitous three-wheeled autorickshaw
