The Water Horse - Legend of the Deep (2007) Review The Water Horse - Legends of the Deep is one of the best movies that I have seen. It seems to be a fairy tale. The movie is about a 12 year old boy Angus, who finds a bluish, mysterious egg on the beach and carries it home. After a few days, the egg breaks open with a cute little creature coming out of it. The boy is pretty happy and names him Crusoe.
He hides the creature in a work shed. But although he tries hard to hide it away from the whole world, it becomes impossible for him, as every day the creature keeps growing double in size, and finally turns into a massive water horse.
The story is set in Sotland and belongs to the time of World War II. Angus and his sister Kristie, try their level best to hide the creature from the sight of their mother and the soldiers who are presently staying around their house.
A fellow staff, Lewis Mowbray, played by Ben Chaplin, helps them out by shifting Crusoe to the near by river, after a series of unprecedented events.
In the story, the legendary tale of the water horse is depicted in a manner that it is truly fascinating. As per the legend, only one water horse can be alive at a time. And when it is about to die, it lays an egg which does produce the next water horse and so on.
The story has its share of comic events that happen during the close encounter of the water horse with the bull dog kept as a pet by the cook. The bull dog is not very pleased with the creature and tries to chase it out, resulting in chaos.
Overall the Water horse, i.e Crusoe is shown as a playful, comic and fun filled creature. Anybody would fall in love with it.
The best part about this movie is that the kids watching the movie aren't afraid of the massive creature shown in the movie. In fact they like him and cheer for him when he tries to chase out the submarine nets and the bull dog.
