Synopsis:
Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik (Patel), an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India¹s "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"
But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika (Pinto), the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show¹s questions.
Each chapter of Jamal¹s increasingly layered story reveals where he learned the answers to the show¹s seemingly impossible quizzes. But one question remains a mystery: what is this young man with no apparent desire for riches really doing on the game show?
When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out.

Good: The actors did a great job I must say!
Bad: The typical Indian storyline!
When I heard all the news related to this movie, I wondered what this movie was exactly. It had to be something to get that applauds. People seem to love it. But when I saw this movie, I really wondered was so special about it. Apart from A.R.Rahman's work, I don't know what so good about it. A.R.Rahman has done a terrific job with the music score, as he always does. He is a fantastic composer, singer and the best director we have today. He deserved Oscar!

Good: story, picture-perfect, natural acting, some true relevant events, fast movie
Bad: not humourous, some events that cant be justified
Indeed a good movie by a foreign director and producer. It hard to believe that Indian directors doesnt come up with the work like this. Some shown events like how small orphan children are forced into the world of begging, crime and prostitution are very true and relevant. A low budget film, that has successfully able to portrait what it want to. Good: The whole sequence is entertaining like a 20-20 cricket match

This is one of such films, you watch in a stretch, eager to wait for "whats next". The story tells you how the people in slums live and some dark truths revealing. The whole picturisation is of top quality and the Oscars add the icing on the cake. It force you to think at the same time entertainment. The movie is good , but not the best of its kind. A lot more real movies which had a hidden message were made in India. But the movies were not considered for the Oscars. Even if they made for the Oscars they did not recieve the awards. I personally dont consider the song "Jai Ho" as ARs best. Movie was good enough to entertain people but was it really deserves the Oscar award. Well, I was also the one of them who hated the celebrities for saying that this movie would bring or create a different and poor image of our India. This is story of India's emotion. Danny Boyle has really seen Mumbai slum very well and provided a real feeling and picturisation of people their life. I saw the movie after it had won the 8 Oscars and my expectations were really high. I was not very impressed when i saw it the first time, but i again saw it to satisfy whether my judgment was correct. The one good thing that elevates Danny Boyles work to be an acclaimed one, at least for the Oscars, is the technical excellence in filming the movie.
