Of all books I have ever read, Breakfast At Tiffany's by Truman Capote is supposed to contest all of those whose flow and sheer beauty has captivated me. It is certainly one of the best one-sitting read of all time. Stuffed with mixed feelings and acquaintances of an alarmingly unpredictable character sketched by the author, who goes by the name of Miss Holiday “Holly" Golightly, the book is a silent reminiscence of love the protagonist felt for the lady.
The book starts with the early accounts of Miss Golightly, a young lady in her early nineteen, when she used to ring the protagonist's doorbell at different hours of the night for having lost her key to the apartment while they both were tenants at the Brownstone, New York. While the author was a struggling writer and the lady was the starlet of the millionaires in town, the story progresses to a gradual friendship which develops between the two on basis of the short term conversations and the surprised events of the protagonist and the crazily unpredictable nature of the lady. By the time the book would have reached its final pages, the words would have knitted turned and twisted quite a handful of times just to reveal a beautiful attraction between the two of the central characters in the book.
The memory accounted by the author as the protagonist's very own is indescribably beautiful and moving which makes this book a must read for the young as well as the old generation. Counted as the author's one of the best works of his lifetime and also includes one of author's personal favourite characters, the book has sailed more than half a century ruling hearts. Inspite of avoiding the most obvious ending of the protagonist and the lady getting together, the story is complete in itself with the element of sadly happy ending.
